What’s in a tagline?

What’s in a tagline?

There is a trifecta of women that a rare, lucky few have met. A capital-T Trifecta that is me and my people Shelby and Heidi. Describing the friendship between the three of us is complex and layered. But for the purposes of this blog post, you only need to know two things:

  1. When we’re road tripping, I am always in the backseat dozing off to the merry sound of their often ridiculous banter.
  2. They taught me most of what I know about swearing and feminism, and the remediation of the gaping holes in my world knowledge is one of their ongoing central missions in life.

In a recent Marco Polo exchange with the two of them, I was bemoaning the fact that I have zero chill when it comes to investing in projects for which I’ve taken responsibility. (My brain was toast after spending my weekend prepping quilt workshop materials, and I was trying to rally for the job that actually pays me and requires much more patience).

“I can’t half a$$ anything to save my life. I can’t even full a$$ $hit. It always has to be double the a$$ level work!” I wailed.

Thanks to the magic of time zones, Heidi had time to respond before I was commuting home. With a delivery only possible by a theater nerd, she offered up “Double the a$$ quilting when extra is good enough!” for my imaginary future quilting business slogan.

Nothing makes me feel as warm and toasty inside as being known, loved, and quipped about.

While brilliant and very true, this will never be my published tagline. Mostly because deep down in my heart I’m still the articulate, lower-rung-word-using young lady my southern mother and Mennonite father raised me to be (despite my tween niece needing to occasionally holler “language!” at me).

But the Trifecta, and now you, know that when you come here, you’re in for a whole lot of the very best I can muster in any given moment that I post.
