  • Let’s Talk Cookies!

A tray of brightly colored/iced sugar cookies is pictured. There's a teal cookie that reads "SVMQG", a yellow cookie with measurement increments to 5", two spools of thread cookies (one hot pink, one tealish), a heart and square that each look pieced like a quilt, three sewing machines, and a pincushion cookie.

  • Foundation Paper Piecing: Prepping your Pattern Page

The foundation paper piecing pattern by Keila Simos (linked in this post) is shown printed with rough coloring marks to demonstrate how to prepare your printed pattern for sewing. The centers of the tablets have scratch marks mimicking writing, the edges of the tablets are roughly colored black, and the background has pink pencil marks.

  • Foundation Paper Piecing: Getting Set Up

A fabric block is shown that depicts a black, non branded tablet with multiple lines of text on the center fabric "screen". Peach, gold, and white flecked fabric frame the block. A pink Add a Quarter Plus ruler and teal/wood seam roller lie next to the block against a white background.

Why my method? Foundation Paper Piecing can be a mind bender for people new to the technique. After teaching the technique to multiple classes of middle schoolers, I decided to… Read more

  • Fabric Collage – 2024 CA Deaf Quilting Retreat Drop & Sew Files

Two fabric collages are pictured side by side. On the one on the left, a small teal collage is pictured against some pavers. A topographical map of California is pictured in greens and browns. In purple cursive, "California" is across the top and three orange poppies are at the bottom of the collage. In slightly messy stamping you can read "California Deaf Quilting Retreat 2024 ~san juan bautista~". The one on the right has a bright red background and pictures a white coffee mug with latte art (a heart) on the top. In the background is stitching intended to look like woodgrain planks of a table.

I love quilt retreats that put me into community with likeminded quilters who are encouraging, curious, kind and low drama. While this can’t be said for every retreat I’ve attended, it’s… Read more

  • Fabric Cards and Postcards

A fabric postcard depicts a collage of a Dalmation puppy in a brown sweater flopped on his side. He appears to be resting on purple and pink pillows. The background is teal above his head.

One day, I may update this post with a step-by-step tutorial with photographs. For now, enjoy the ASL/spoken English/edited caption video below. Scroll down to the bottom of the post… Read more

  • Fabric Collage: Pattern Making with Procreate

Against a teal backdrop, four images are displayed showing the steps in creating a fabric collage. The far left image is of a merle Aussie with tan, gray, and white markings. He has one blue eye and one eye that is brown and blue. The next image shows the same dog image with pattern markings on top. The next image is just the pattern markings without the dog photograph. The final image is a fabric collage of the same image on top of a blue background.

First things first: my niece wants me to be clear that Noelle is HER dog, not my sister’s (as I said in my video). This is actually quite true, and I… Read more

  • Fabric Collage: Shadow

A collage of a dog hangs against an outdoor lattice background. The dog is black with one ear erect and the other flopped over slightly at the tip. The dog's mouth is open, with a pink tongue hanging out. The dog has white markings around it's nose, down it's neck, and across it's chest.

If couples really get dogs to hone their parenting styles, Shadow is the dog that snuffed any spark of interest I had in becoming a parent. Mostly because, as an adult,… Read more

  • What’s in a tagline?

Three woman are pictured outside on a city street with parked cars and trees. The two on the left are holding a lavender balloon dog sculpture. The woman on the left is blonde with dark sunglasses. The woman in the center has curly red hair with a teal stripe and is also wearing sunglasses. The woman on the right has light brown hair pulled back and regular glasses. All three are smiling into the camera.

There is a trifecta of women that a rare, lucky few have met. A capital-T Trifecta that is me and my people Shelby and Heidi. Describing the friendship between the three of… Read more
